Abstract

This article focuses on the surge and decline of the Bentivoglio family of Bologna through the lens of their physical presence in the city. The analysis of a vast array of sources allows for a chronological development of the family’s involvement in the management of the city. Their strategies to build consensus and family fame are consequently uncovered and analysed as a result of the studies conducted for this article.
